If you are sending your survey to respondents who speak different languages (for example, English and French speakers in Canada), and need to have the appropriate version displayed to different respondents, you can use our translation functionality.
Here are several simple steps to set up a multilingual study:
Find translation settings under “Advanced settings” and click “Edit translations”.
In the translation interface page, you can add a new language by clicking the “Add language” button:
You will need to specify the name of the language (either from the list of languages provided in the drop-down menu) or by entering another name and locale (i.e., language code). You can then click "Add and pre-translate" for automatic translation:
The new language has been added and you can now edit all the words and phrases that will be shown to respondents:
Finally, when you are done with translations, click on “Save and return to settings” to go back to the experiment settings page.
NB: If you add new questions to your survey, remember to update your translations.
There are two options for how language is selected for respondents:
However, both settings will be overridden if the link contains the GET variable “locale”. For example, to display a survey in Russian, you can add ?locale=ru. To display it in English, add ?locale=en.
